Over Seeding
what?
Over Seeding is the process of sowing new grass seed to an existing lawn to thicken the sward and improve overall appearance. This is usually done following mechanical procedures such as aeration and scarification. It’s one of the best ways to revitalize thin, patchy, or aging grass and keep your lawn looking thick, green, and healthy year-round.
Over time, even the best lawns start to lose their vigour due to heat, drought, heavy use, or disease. Overseeding introduces new, improved grass varieties that are more resistant to stress, pests, and weather changes. This helps fill in bare spots, crowd out weeds, and boost your lawn’s overall density and colour.
To successfully over seed a lawn there are two factors that must be achieved: timing of seed application and good soil contact. Providing there is sufficient soil temperature and moisture at the time of seeding and the seed has good contact with the soil, or is covered by top dressing, the over seeding process should be a successful one.

Top Dressing
what?
Top dressing is the process of adding a thin layer of soil to the surface of a lawn usually when aeration, scarification and/or over seeding has taken place. Regular top dressing is common on ornamental lawns and sports pitches such as golf greens, bowling lawns and football pitches.
Top dressing must be carried out when the grass is actively growing to enable full recovery. We can apply and spread top dressing via hand, a pedestrian spreader or tractor-mounted spreader depending on the size of the area.
We have the option of two different types of top dressing to suit the needs of each lawn we’re working on. An organic, composted green waste dressing is used following over seeding the lawn to aid quick and strong seed germination and establishment. Alternatively, if we need to smooth out the surface of a bumpy, uneven lawn we will use a sandy loam mixture.

Spring Lawn Treatment

Late Summer Lawn Treatment
A non-scorch fertiliser is applied to continue your lawns development through the drier months. If there are weeds present, we will treat those too.
Autumn Lawn Treatment
During our Autumn treatment is when we apply a low-nitrogen, plant strengthening fertiliser to prepare your lawn for the colder months ahead. We also halt early developing moss.

Our Winter treatment provides a much-needed boost to help your lawn fight off winter disease and moss encroachment, whilst providing great colour.
