Diseases

When grass is under stress it can lead to a number of lawn diseases taking hold. Some will cause minor cosmetic damage to the grass blades, others can kill of large areas of the lawn, ultimately ruining the lush green appearance. There are three main factors that contribute to the development of disease in domestic lawns, they are:

  • Weather conditions - too hot/humid/damp or too dry and cold.
  • The lawn is not being cut properly (cutting too short or mowing with blunt/non-sharp blades).
  • Lawn lacking important sufficient nutrients at the correct times.

Lawns can be made more disease resistant by applying a balanced nutritional programme all year, combined with regular mechanical practices such as scarification and aeration. The treatment of any occurring diseases can depend on the current condition of the lawn, time of year and stage of disease.

If your lawn appears to be showing symptoms of any of the following diseases, please contact Will’s Norfolk Lawns.
